Feature: Derby Scribes

Derby Scribes is a Derby based writing group open to new members who are looking not only to learn new things but also to socialise with like minded folk.

The history of Derby Scribes goes back to 2004 when Alex Davis (now involved with Alt.Fiction) started a writing group called 'Sepulchre', the name changed a year or so later when Alex's workload increased and the reins were passed to other members.

Since then the group has survived multiple changes in venue and membership and of late is enjoying a great turn out. Scribes sessions are a mix of practical writing exercises, discussions, author visits, retreats and feedback often presented by the members themselves.

This year Scribes have published a group anthology, which as well as featuring stories by the members also features a number of guest stories from Authors that have previously visited (Conrad Williams, Simon Clark, Neal James). The Anthology is available on Kindle and Smashwords (published by Stumar Press) and will shortly be available as a print version.

Derby Scribes meet on the first and third Mondays of each month at the Brunswick Inn (near the Derby train station). More info about the group can be found here.
