Jimmy Drew and Henry Guyler have been friends for a number of years after meeting on a local cricket pitch. Today they are celebrating their company’s biggest partnership.
After 10 years of working in marketing and product development for Egg on Pride Park, Jimmy wanted to set up a business here in Derby.
Jimmy decided to join forces with Henry, who had also worked in marketing, at Friar Gate Studios and two years ago the duo set up Boast Sponsorship.
Jimmy and Henry originally looked at setting up sponsorship deals for sporting events but soon realised that the business model which they created was suitable for all sectors. Today marks over a year of hard work as they celebrate one of their biggest partnerships.
This morning the UK’s largest Heavy Metal Festival - Bloodstock, based right here in Derbyshire, kicks off. 12,000 heavy metal fans will rocking in the sunshine on the outskirts of Walton on Trent and the duo can be proud to say that they have played a key part in the festival.
The Friar Gate tenants have suddenly become propelled into the heavy metal world through setting up a deal with the festival organisers with well-known brand, Red Bull. The pair openly admits that they aren’t into heavy metal however they believe that being so-far removed from the event was instrumental in marrying Red Bull and Bloodstock, they were able to look at both organisations with fresh ideas and opportunities.
Henry says: “When looking at sponsorship deals, the two organisations need to have an affinity with each other. They need to be able to interact with customers and engage in both ethoses”.
Over the weekend festival fans will be able to their hands on the energy drink which will be welcomed and certainly help to keep them going!
On Sunday Jimmy and Henry are going to be heading to Bloodstock for their first taste of a Heavy Metal Festival and to see their hard work. In a midst of panicking about what to wear and how to avoid the mosh-pits, the excitement from the pair is infectious.
When Jimmy gets back from his day of metal, he will be giving all Hatch’d readers a first-timers guide to a heavy metal festival. So do come back next week for Jimmy’s top tips!
